Scaling UP! H2O The Water Treatment Podcast, invited Tower Water’s President & Visionary, Russell Baskin to speak on waterborne disease and legionella. The two-part series was hosted on August 19th and 26th, 2022. The first podcast is titled “The One About Legionella and a FedEx Package” and introduces Russell with his education, work experiences, and what motivated him to start his own business.
Russell graduated from College of New Jersey with a degree in engineering and became the top Technical Sales & Territory Consultant at a top water treatment company. During his time there he soon realized that there was going to be a high demand for cleaning cooling towers and knew it was time to invest. After six years, Russell launched his own business, providing a full-service water treatment company for HVAC and Cooling Towers called Tower Water serving New York and the Metropolitan area.
In the second series, Scaling UP! H2O host Trace Blackmore dives deep into “Why all Water Treaters Need to Pay Attention to ASHRAE 188”. Russell shares his first-hand experience of receiving a FedEx letter with Legionella Legislation from the Commissioner of New York City and how it caused a butterfly effect to change the operations at Tower Water.
Russell has worked with industry experts like Matt Freji of HCINFO, Janet Stout of Special Pathogens Laboratory, and many more. Together they developed water management plans using ASHRAE 12-2000 procedures which have been modified to meet the State and City regulations, including Local Law 77.
